Children Drama “The Legend of Redhill”
A long time ago, many fishermen lived by the shores of Singapore. Even though they came from different backgrounds, they helped and cared for each other which led to a happy life!
One day, the sea became full of swordfish that attacked the fishermen. The Sultan sent soldiers to stop the swordfish, but they were fast and fierce, hurting many soldiers. A boy named Aman suggested to the Sultan to build a wall of banana tree trunks to stop the swordfish. The idea worked, and the Sultan praised Aman, saying he would be great one day, and asked minister Yusof to help him.
However, Minister Yusof was afraid Aman might surpass him, so he sent people to kill Aman.
The kind villagers hid Aman in the mountains to keep him safe from the soldiers! Yusof captured the villagers and threatened to kill them. To protect the villagers, Aman came out of hiding and was shot by the soldiers. His blood made the ground red, and it became known as Red Hill to honor his bravery.
