Marshal Tian Peng, having committed an offense in the Heavenly Court, was punished and cast down to the mortal realm. By mistake, he was reborn into a pig’s body. Guanyin Bodhisattva told him that a scripture seeker would one day take him as a disciple and instructed him to wait in Yunlin Cave at Mount Fuling, giving him the name Zhu Bajie.
Zhu Bajie waited for a long time, but the scripture seeker never came. Growing restless and longing for a mortal life, he decided to find a wife. He set up a challenge to choose a bride from the mountain, but all the women found him too ugly. Disguising himself as a handsome young man, he descended the mountain and came upon bandits robbing Master Gao.
Seeing injustice, Zhu Bajie intervened and rescued Master Gao. Out of gratitude, Master Gao invited him for dinner, where Zhu Bajie met Miss Gao. The two fell in love at first sight, and Master Gao gladly agreed to their marriage.
On the wedding day, Zhu Bajie drank too much wine and revealed his true form, terrifying the guests. At that moment, Tang Seng and his disciple Sun Wukong, journeying to fetch the scriptures, passed through Gao Village, defeated Zhu Bajie, and restored peace to the land.
